Nokia announced two attractive new phones based on Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 platform with its distinctive user interface. But no carriers stood onstage with Nokia CEO Stephen Elop and no carrier alliances were announced (although AT&T was mentioned). With no carrier partners, the company couldn't announce when the phones would be available or for what price. Distribution has to come together soon for Nokia to have an impact on the end-of-year buying season.
